One-dimensional ultrasound examination

One-dimensional ultrasound examination as a diagnostic method in medicine has been in use for about 40 years and nowadays it is undergoing its second birth. The new wave of its development was possible only on the basis of the modern digital technologies which have opened a new way for getting and processing additional diagnostic information that could not be picked up by the devices of the first generation. The modern computerized diagnostic systems are capable of delivering more informative real-time clinical data and allow to store, process and interpret them in accordance with various software algorithms. As a result a number of additional diagnostic approaches have appeared and objectivity and accuracy of the patients' examination have significantly been increased. Modernization of the one-dimensional ultrasound diagnostic technology enabled to successfully apply it in such fields of medicine as endocrinology (for ultrasound osteodensitometry), ophthalmology (for ultrasound ophtalmoscopy) and in ENT (for ultrasound frontal and paranasal sinuses examination). The wide use of the computer based ultrasound echoencephaloscopes resulted in a more easier and at the same time more accurate way of their diagnostic application in neurology. At present stage not all potentialities of the one-dimensional ultrasound examination technology have been exhausted. The use of the latest now-how in this field will open new avenues for development of more efficient and more informative devices.
