Description

The course is intended to be an introduction to the area of Applied Psychophysiology. The content of the course is relevant for health professionals, psychologist, psychotherapists, specialist in defectology or correctional pedagogy and for the students with basic knowledge and a strong interest in psychology. The primary aim of this course is to present the current trends in applied psychophysiology including functional brain mapping, neurofeedback, and non-invasive brain stimulation and to learn how these approaches can be utilized in educational and clinical practice.

Participants will become familiar with the basic principles of neurophysiological (QEEG) and psychophysiological measurements (ERP); will understand the idea of the functional brain biomarkers, and will learn how to apply this knowledge for the construction of the neurofeedback training protocols. At the end of this course, participants will become familiar with the brain-state theory, the brain information processing theory, and the concept of the brain plasticity.

Dr. Olga Kara. MSc in Neurobiology, MSc in Psychology, Ph.D. in Psychophysiology, MBA in Biobusiness and Neurotechnology

Dr. Olga Kara has more than 25 years of experience in the human brain research and applied neuroscience. The unique combination of medical-biological and business education helps her deeply understand the neurobiological basis of mental issues and introduce the best neurotechnological solutions into everyday practice.

She holds MSc in Neurobiology, MSc in Psychology, Ph.D. in Psychophysiology, and MBA in Biobusiness and Neurotechnology. She is a certified medical specialist in functional diagnostic of neurological diseases with specialization in Functional Brain Mapping, EEG/ERP-Based Biomarkers. Her experience also includes Neurofeedback and HD-ILF Neurofeedback training.

Her scientific background allowed her to investigate the neurobiological principles of brain organization at all levels, from groups of neurons developed from stem cells to the registration and analysis of the brain signals from intracerebral and surface electrodes in patients with various pathological conditions.

She is interested in disclosing the pathophysiological circuits involved in mental dysfunctions and in development of the effective methods for diagnostics and correction.
